Hair is made of proteins like keratin and amino acids. The max amount of amino acids in the hair structure is 21. This is important because the amino acids break down when hair is damaged from bleaching, too much sun, or over-styling. Starting with the basics, “pH” is a measurement of acidity or basicity. All liquids are either more acidic or basic (alkaline). Let’s take water, for example. Water is entirely neutral and falls right in the middle of the pH scale at 7. For reference, the pH scale is 0-14.
